Becoming a pilot can be one of the most rewarding accomplishments in a person's life.  Being a pilot is much more than stick and rudder skills.  It involves personal motivation and overcoming challenges.  It involves knowing that you have excelled at, and mastered a trade that only a small segment of our society can accomplish.  To become a pilot you must first be dedicated and motivated.  You must also be humble, for once you strap on your first aircraft and break the surly bonds of earth, you will quickly realize that this profession has awesome rewards, as well as incredible responsibilities.  When you decide to enroll, you can expect the following outline of training.

The first step is becoming a private pilot.  That means that you will be trained to master a single engine piston aircraft in good weather while staying out of the clouds.  You will begin in a detailed ground school where you will learn the basics of flight, aircraft performance, FAA regulations, and much more.  At the same time you will begin to receive professional flight instruction in any one of our "State of the Art" aircraft and flight simulator.  There are a series of requirements mandated by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) that you must master within the first several hours.  Then there will be some written tests and a check ride.  After passing these tests, you will be cleared to solo. Several hours of instruction later, and an FAA check ride, you will then receive your private pilot’s license from the FAA.

After becoming a private pilot, the next step is to gain experience and become more confident with your skills and abilities.  Once you do that, an instrument rating is the next logical step.  This involves more ground school, simulator, and flight time.  Using our "State of the Art" simulator, you will be able to save a considerable amount of time and money in training while obtaining a much higher level of proficiency.  Once you achieve this highly sought after rating, you will be able to fly in virtually any weather, including in the clouds.
